Get Your Hands Dirty

Mercy Farm was built for one reason: to help families—especially children—reconnect with nature and the joy of doing things the old-fashioned way. From feeding animals and collecting eggs to learning how to make homemade soap or cook from scratch, everything here is hands-on, real, and full of heart. Whether you’re visiting for the day, staying in our cabins, or celebrating something special, Mercy Farm is a place where hard work feels good, food tastes better, and memories come naturally.

Mercy Farm began in 2011 with a simple dream: to reconnect children with the kind of life that built strong families and steady hearts — country living, honest work, and the joy of creating something with your own hands.

I was raised in the country, and when I purchased this property, I knew I wanted my grandchildren to experience what I did growing up. Not just the beauty of the outdoors, but the lessons that come with it — patience, responsibility, teamwork, and gratitude for what the land provides.

We started small, with bunnies. The kids helped build the first rabbit cage, and that moment became the spark that lit everything else. From there, Mercy Farm grew into what it is today — a place filled with animals, purpose, and a sense of peace you can only find when you slow down and return to nature.

As the farm expanded, we knew it needed a name. I’ve always said “Lord have mercy,” and the words became more than a saying — they became the spirit of the farm. Mercy Farm was born.

Over time, I realized I couldn’t do it alone. My brother Lloyd and a talented carpenter named Keith helped build homes and spaces for the animals, and later I hired Michelle — someone who loves animals as deeply as I do. Together, we’ve grown Mercy Farm into a place where families can gather, children can explore, and learning feels like an adventure again.

Today, Mercy Farm is home to goats, chickens, bees, horses, miniature horses, cows, alpacas, mules, and more — along with the handmade goods and homegrown products we’re proud to share: fresh eggs, honey, goat milk, soaps, and classes that keep traditional skills alive.

But more than anything, Mercy Farm is about one thing: children.
Teaching them how to reconnect with nature. How to appreciate what hard work produces. And how the simple things — caring for animals, making something by hand, harvesting from the land — can bring real joy back into their lives.

This farm has always been, and will always be, a place where childhood feels the way it used to: curious, grounded, and full of wonder.
